TACOMA, WA (September 17, 2025) — The Tacoma Rainiers are two wins away from adding their seventh Pacific Coast League Championship, as they punched their ticket to the playoffs with a 6-1 victory on Wednesday night. The Rainiers, whose last title came by winning the Triple-A West in 2021 by way of having the best record in the regular season (there were no playoffs in 2021), will play in the postseason for the first time since 2016.
The Pacific Coast League Championship Series will begin on Tuesday, September 23, at Las Vegas Ballpark. The Rainiers will square off against the First Half Champion Las Vegas Aviators, who went 49-26 in the First Half. It will be a best-of-three series, with the winner advancing to the Triple-A National Championship, which will be held on Saturday, September 27, against the the International League Champions, also to be played at Las Vegas Ballpark.
The Rainiers have played 18 games against Las Vegas this season, going 4-14. However, in their lone meeting in the Second Half, the Rainiers dropped three of the four games by just one run. In the Second Half, Las Vegas has gone 32-39.
The Rainiers are playing some of their best baseball in September, off to a 9-5 record this month, hitting .310 which is the third-best average in Triple-A. Cade Marlowe and Leody Taveras have played a large role in the September surge, and adding the Mariners’ top prospect Colt Emerson into the mix will certainly provide an exciting spark as the Rainiers look to win their seventh Pacific Coast League Championship in franchise history.
