OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – A majestic blast from Bryce Eldridge was all the scoring for the Sacramento River Cats on Saturday, coming too little, too late as the Oklahoma City Comets snagged a 6-1 victory at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The blast for the left-handed hitter went the opposite way, marking his team-leading eighth homer to the opposite field. That gives Eldridge a total of 18 homers with Sacramento, second only to the 23 of Marco Luciano. Meanwhile, it was his 25th overall big fly of 2025, which continues to extend a new single season career best.
Unfortunately for the River Cats (38-30/74-69), that home run came after the Comets (34-34/80-63) had already put six runs on the board, scoring at least once in each of the first three innings before adding two more in the sixth.
Among the highlights for Oklahoma City was a solo homer from Esteury Ruiz in the third, his 14th of the campaign, while Noah Miller drove in a pair of runs on a two-RBI double during the sixth.
All five Sacramento hits came from different bats including the Eldridge blast, while the trio of Brett wisely, Dayson Croes and Thomas Gavello each logged a double.
Sacramento will try to avoid a series loss when the two teams meet in the series finale on Sunday at 12:05 p.m. (PT).
