HOW IT HAPPENED:

Round Rock RF Billy McKinney led off the bottom of the first with a solo homer. LF Trevor Hauver, 3B Alan Trejo and DH Konner Piotto recorded RBI singles to put the E-Train ahead 5-0 after one.

The Express plated three more runs in the third on RBI singles from CF Kellen Strahm, SS Richie Martin and McKinney extending the lead to 8-0. Tacoma 1B Tyler Locklear belted a solo homer in the top of the sixth to put the Rainiers on the board.

In the bottom of the frame, Hauver drove Martin in with a single to make it 9-1, Round Rock. The Rainiers got a run back in the top of the seventh on LF Jacob Hurtubise’s sacrifice fly, cutting their deficit to 9-2.

Round Rock tallied five more runs in the bottom of the seventh. Martin recorded a RBI single and a 3B Austin Shenton fielding error allowed two more runs to score. Hauver and Trejo hit back-to-back RBI singles to give the E-Train a 14-2 lead.

Strahm belted a home run to left-center in the bottom of the eighth, tacking on another run. Tacoma 2B Samad Taylor drove two runs in with a double in the top of the ninth, but Round Rock could not be caught in Saturday’s 15-4 final.

E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:

BOUSHLEY ON THE BUMP: RHP Caleb Boushley recorded his third consecutive scoreless outing for Round Rock after throwing 4.2 innings on Saturday night. Boushley allowed two hits and three walks while striking out four batters. He has not allowed more than three hits in any outing for the Express this year.

ALAN ERA: 3B Alan Trejo went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs on Saturday night. Trejo is batting .429 (9-21) with two doubles, three home runs, 11 RBI and seven runs scored against Tacoma this week. He has a hit in seven of his last eight games.

HOT BATS: Round Rock had five players record multiple hits and six with multiple RBI on Saturday night. The E-Train went 10-for-20 with runners in scoring position. In their last eight games, the Express have recorded at least 10 hits in six of them. They are scoring 10.2 runs per game against Tacoma this week.

RICHIE’S RAKING: After striking out in his first at-bat, SS Richie Martin tallied four consecutive hits with two RBI and two runs scored.
