Rainiers Climb Back to Stun Express 17-12 on Friday Night

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Round Rock DH Trevor Hauver delivered a RBI single in the bottom of the first to open up the scoring. SS Alan Trejo deposited the next pitch into the E-Train bullpen for his third homer in as many days. The Express led 4-0 after one.
In the top of the third, Tacoma 1B Austin Shenton belted a solo homer to put the Rainiers on the board. RF Leody Taveras later recorded a RBI double to cut the Tacoma deficit in half.
An inning later, SS Leo Rivas brought the Rainiers within one on his home run. Tacoma trailed 4-3.
The E-Train doubled their score with four runs in the bottom of the frame. RF Billy McKinney roped a two-run double into right and LF Kellen Strahm homered on the next pitch to make it 8-3.
In the fifth, 3B Cody Freeman stole second and CF Dustin Harris scored on C Blake Hunt’s throwing error. Hauver drove Freeman in with a single up the middle, Crim scored on a Strahm sacrifice fly and Hauver came around on a Taveras fielding error giving the Express a 12-3 advantage.
Hunt made up for the error with a two-run home run in the top of the sixth. In the seventh, Rivas tallied a two-run single and Hunt hit a sacrifice fly to center bringing Tacoma within four.
Rainiers DH Tyler Locklear cleared the bases with a three-run double in the top of the eighth. Tacoma scored eight unanswered runs to trail 12-11 entering the ninth.
With the bases juiced in the ninth, Taveras hit a triple into center giving the Rainiers their first lead of the night. LF Spencer Packard tallied a two-run home run moving the Tacoma lead to 17-12, which stood final.
E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:
ALAN’S ALL OVER IT: SS Alan Trejo has now doubled his home run tally with three home runs in the past three days. Trejo is 6-for-16 with three homers, two doubles, five runs scored and nine RBI this series.
FIRST FOUR: The Express had five batters record multiple hits and the first four batters went 10-for-20 with a triple and two doubles while scoring eight of the team’s 12 runs on Friday night.
BATS ARE HOT: Round Rock has had at least 10 hits in five of their past seven games. The E-Train are batting .354 (52-147) this week and scoring nine runs per game.
IN IT FOR THE LONG HAUL: In 2025, there have been 25 PCL games with at least 22 runs scored. Round Rock has been in five of those games. There have been seven PCL games this year with at least 84 at bats. Round Rock has been in four of those games.
