HOW IT HAPPENED:

Tacoma took an early lead in the bottom of the second behind 1B Tyler Locklear’s two-run home run. Round Rock SS Jonathan Ornelas answered in the top of the fourth with his second single of the game, sending C Tucker Barnhart home to cut the deficit to 2-1.

SS Leo Rivas broke things open for the Rainiers with a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth giving Tacoma a 5-1 lead. 2B Cole Young followed with a single before C Harry Ford sent him home with an RBI base knock, making it 6-1.

The Tacoma bullpen shut the door as LHP Drew Pomeranz, RHP Blas Castano and RHP Will Klein collectively tossed 5.1 scoreless innings on one Express base hit.

E_TRAIN EXCERPTS:

EXTRA-BASES BLAINE: Round Rock 1B Blaine Crim launched a double into right field in the top of the eighth. Crim led the Express in doubles in 2024 with a career-high (33). He finished 1-4 with a double on Friday.

J.O.: SS Jonathan Ornelas opened his 2025 campaign going 2-for-4 while recording Round Rock’s lone RBI.

FREEMAN’S DEBUT: 3B Cody Freeman impressed in his Triple-A debut notching a single in his first at-bat before drawing a couple of walks. He finished 1-for-2 with two walks. Freeman also recorded four assists and a putout anchoring the hot corner for the E-Train on Opening Day.
