HOW IT HAPPENED:

Round Rock jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first. 1B Blaine Crim drew a walk and SS Cody Freeman hit a double setting up DH Trevor Hauver’s RBI single to put the E-Train ahead, 1-0.

2B Alan Trejo belted a two-run homer in the third and 3B Richie Martin recorded a solo shot in the fourth, extending Round Rock’s lead to 4-0.

Sugar Land LF Luis Castro recorded a bases-loaded single in the sixth. Castro’s base hit brought two runs in, cutting the Space Cowboys’ deficit in half at 4-2.

The E-Train added to their total with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh. Martin drew a leadoff walk, stole second and came around to score on CF Dustin Harris’ single. Later in the inning, Freeman recorded a sacrifice fly, allowing Harris to tag from third and move Round Rock’s advantage to 6-2.

Express relievers LHP Robby Ahlstrom, RHP Luis Curvelo and RHP Craig Kimbrel held the Space Cowboys scoreless with three hits and five strikeouts in the final four innings. Round Rock earned its third consecutive win with a 6-2 victory on Tuesday.

E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:

NO SIGN OF STOPPING: The Express have scored at least six runs in their last six games. Despite recording just five hits, the Express produced five runs on four of the hits

BULLPEN: Round Rock’s pitching staff held the Space Cowboys to six hits and two runs while striking out 10 thanks to the efforts from RHP Patrick Murphy, RHP Joe Barlow, LHP Robby Ahlstrom, RHP Luis Curvelo and RHP Craig Kimbrel. Curvelo was the E-Train’s only pitcher to allow multiple hits, but did not allow a run to score. RHP Joe Barlow earned his third win of the season as the first man in relief. Barlow allowed one hit and struck out three batters in 2.0 innings of work.
