HOW IT HAPPENED:

Round Rock CF Michael Helman led off the top of the first with a home run on the first pitch of the game. Two batters later, 1B Blaine Crim sent a ball over the fence in right field for a 2-0 Express lead.

In the fourth, SS Richie Martin and Helman got aboard with singles before 3B Josh Jung belted his first E-Train homer of the year, extending Round Rock’s lead to 5-0.

Las Vegas RF Colby Thomas ended LHP Michael Plassmeyer’s no-hit bid with a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth as the Aviators trailed 5-1.

An inning later, Aviators 1B Logan Davidson recorded a solo home run to make it 5-2 after five.

Crim tallied his second round-tripper of the night in the top of the sixth as Round Rock led 6-2.

Las Vegas put two runners on to start the bottom of the frame and LF Carlos Cortes launched his 17th home run of the year to cut the Aviators’ deficit to 6-5.

Round Rock’s relievers of RHP Joe Barlow, RHP Luis Curvelo and RHP Craig Kimbrel held Las Vegas to two hits in the last three frames en route to a 6-5 series opening victory on Friday night.

E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:

PLASSMEYER ON THE BUMP: Express LHP Michael Plassmeyer became the E-Train’s winning pitcher in back-to-back games after his start on Friday night. The left-hander threw 5.0 IP allowing two hits via solo home runs, along with two strikeouts and two walks. In three outings this month, Plassmeyer is holding opponents to a .196 average with 15 strikeouts and five walks.

BLAINE BOMBS: Round Rock 1B Blaine Crim tallied his first multi-homer game of the year after going 2-for-4 with two home runs, two RBI and a walk in the series opener. Among Pacific Coast League hitters, Crim ranks seventh in home runs (17), sixth in RBI (68), eighth in total bases (160) and seventh in OPS (.938).
