Round Rock CF Kellen Strahm led off the game with a single before DH Jake Burger put the Express on the board with his second home run in a Round Rock uniform. Burger’s line-drive homer got the E-Train out to a 2-0 edge in the first.
The Chihuahuas got even with a pair of runs in the third. CF Forrest Wall led off with a single then stole second. Express RHP Cory Abbott struck out two batters but RF Oscar Gonzalez sent a single to right and Wall opened the scoring for El Paso. C Luis Campusano doubled down the left field line and the game was tied 2-2 as Gonzalez came around.
In the fourth, El Paso loaded the bases with a double, a hits batsman and a walk. SS Clay Dungan reached on a fielding error by 1B Justin Foscue and the Chihuahuas added a run. LF Tirso Ornelas hit a sacrifice fly to LF Alex De Goti and Brosseau came home. Abbott threw a wild pitch past C Kyle Higashioka and Wall scored the third run of the inning for a 5-2 lead.
The Express cut into the Chihuahua lead with two runs in the fifth. 3B Frainyer Chavez and Strahm drew a pair of walks. Burger belted a double into left, sending Chavez around to score and Strahm went to third. Later, Foscue grounded out but Strahm scored on the play and Round Rock trailed 5-4.
El Paso extended their lead once again in the bottom of the sixth. Wall and Ornelas got aboard with walks and Gonzalez launched his fourth homer of the year sending the lead to 8-4. Round Rock produced just one hit in the final four frames and El Paso earned their fifth win of the series by a final 8-4.

EXTRA-BASES BURGER: DH Jake Burger went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, three RBI and a run scored on Sunday. Burger has a hit in five of his six games with the Express. He’s slashing .391/.462/.696 with a double, two home runs, six RBI, five runs scored, three walks and two strikeouts.
CAN’T STOP COLE: RHP Cole Winn tossed a three-up, three-down eighth inning in his 12th appearance for the E-Train on Sunday. Winn has not allowed an earned run in 23.1 total innings which is the longest streak in professional baseball this season. He leads Express pitchers with a .147 opposing batting average.
