Round Rock Wins Fifth Straight on Haggerty Walk-Off Sacrifice Fly

Las Vegas started the scoring with a pair of doubles in the top of the third. 3B Max Muncy snuck a ground ball past 3B Jonathan Ornelas. LF Colby Thomas traded places with Muncy with his double into the left field corner and the Aviators led 1-0 after three.
Express RHP Dane Dunning struck out the side in the fourth but the Aviators scratched another run across in the fifth. Las Vegas put two on and Thomas recorded his second RBI of the night with a single over 2B Alan Trejo, moving their lead to 2-0. RHP Joey Estes held Round Rock hitless through four innings.
RF Sam Haggerty belted a triple into the right-center gap to kick off the fifth for the E-Train and Ornelas sent him home with a single through the left side. With two on and two out, CF Evan Carter launched his second home run of the year. Carter’s 383-foot homer gave Round Rock a 4-2 advantage.
Muncy tallied his second double of the night to lead off the seventh for Las Vegas. 1B Logan Davidson doubled off the wall and Muncy came around to cut the Aviators deficit to 4-3.
Las Vegas loaded the bases in the ninth with a single, a hit batsman and a walk. The Aviators then plated two runs with bases-loaded walks from CF Denzel Clarke and RF Drew Avans taking a 5-4 lead.
Haggerty drew a walk for the Express to lead off the bottom of the ninth. Ornelas found a gap with his second RBI single of the day knotting it up at 5-5.
In the tenth, Davidson scored Muncy who started the inning at second base, with a single and the Aviators had a 6-5 edge.
SS Ezequiel Duran opened the bottom of the tenth with a double off the wall, sending Carter to third. 1B Blaine Crim hit a sacrifice fly to right field and Carter came across to tie the ballgame at 6-6. Later, Haggerty came to the plate with bases loaded and one out. He sailed a sacrifice fly to right field and Avans throw was not in time as Duran scored and the E-Train took game three, 7-6.
E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:
CARTER COMING ALONG: CF Evan Carter went 1-for-3 on Thursday night with a three-run go-ahead homer. Carter has now been on-base in 14 consecutive games.
SAM’S STREAKING: RF Sam Haggerty tripled in Thursday’s win extending his hitting streak to six consecutive games. Haggerty is batting .360 (9-25) with one double, one triple, six RBI, six runs scored, two walks and two strikeouts in his last six games.
FIVE IN A ROW: Round Rock has won five consecutive games and their last four wins have come by one run. Thursday marked the fourth time they have won in walk-off fashion this year. Outside of their three-game series against Tacoma to open the year, the Express have had at least one extra-inning game in their last four series. They are now 4-1 when playing extra frames.
