The Isotopes loaded the bases in the top of the second with a pair of hits and a walk. SS Drew Romo delivered a single to right field for a 1-0 Albuquerque advantage.

The Isotopes added another run in the third. DH Ezequiel Tovar and RF Zac Veen got aboard with singles, then Tovar scored on a LF Sterlin Thompson groundout.Round Rock 3B Josh Jung led off the bottom of the fourth with a double to right and DH Rowdy Tellez recorded his first home run for the E-Train with a line drive over the left field wall. Tellez’s homer tied it up at 2.

In the top of the sixth, CF Sean Bouchard gave the Isotopes a lead with a two-run homer. SS Jose Torres drove another run in with his line out, allowing 3B Warming Bernabel to score from third for a 5-2 edge.

1B Blaine Crim brought the E-Train within one with a two-run blast in the bottom of the sixth. Round Rock trailed 5-4 after Crim’s 410-foot home run. LF Kellen Strahm drove a single into left and RF Billy McKinney came around to score the tying run.

Albuquerque LF Sterlin Thompson led off the eighth with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on Bouchard’s flyout. 3B Warming Bernabel broke the tie with a soft groundout, sending Thompson home for a 6-5 lead.

RHP Nick Anderson struck out the side for the Isotopes in the bottom of the ninth as Albuquerque took the series opener, 6-5.

E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:

RICHIE ROCKS IT: Round Rock SS Richie Martin went 2-for-4 with a strikeout on Tuesday night. Martin now owns a six-game hitting streak, batting .476 (10-21) with three RBI, five runs, two walks, five strikeouts and five stolen bases in that span.

BLAINE BOMBS: 1B Blaine Crim went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in the series opener. Crim is now in sole possession of fourth place in club history with 238 RBI. He also extended his on-base streak to 23 games, the fifth-longest active streak in the PCL.

TOSSING BLANKS: RHP Cole Winn tossed a scoreless ninth inning, giving up a hit and a walk while striking out a batter. Winn has not allowed an earned run across 26.1 innings with Round Rock this year, the longest streak in all of baseball. RHP Peyton Gray tallied his sixth consecutive scoreless appearance. Gray was the E-Train’s first arm out of the bullpen, allowing just a hit while striking out two in the fifth.
