Buffalo, NY – The Syracuse Mets dominated both sides of the ball in a 10-0 win over the Buffalo Bisons on Saturday afternoon at Sahlen Field. The Mets have now won three of the first five games this week against the Bisons.

Syracuse (70-67, 39-23) opened up the scoring in the top of the second inning when José Azocar blasted a solo home run to put Syracuse ahead, 1-0.

The Mets piled on to that lead with a huge fourth inning. After a double by Ryan Clifford, Kevin Parada ripped a two-out RBI single, giving Syracuse a 2-0 lead. The two-out rally continued with a single by Yonny Hernandez and a walk by Luke Ritter to load the bases. The bases were full for Luis De Los Santos, who grounded a ball to third base, and after a throwing error by Josh Kasevich, Parada and Hernandez scored. Towards the end of the play, first baseman Buddy Kennedy lobbed the ball home and threw it past the catcher Rene Pinto, bringing Ritter home to score, and giving Syracuse a 5-0 lead after two errors on the same play. Then with De Los Santos on base, Jose Siri blasted a two-run homer, extending the advantage to 7-0.

In the seventh, the Mets added some insurance runs when De Los Santos and Benge hit singles, then Clifford smacked a three-run homer to make it a 10-0 ballgame.

On the mound, the Syracuse pitching staff shined. Starter Brandon Waddell pitched six scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Out of the bullpen, Carlos Guzman tossed two frames without allowing a run, and Justin Garza closed it out in the ninth without allowing a runner on base.

Syracuse ends its six-game series with Buffalo on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m.
