RENO, Nev. – The Reno Aces (23-46, 60-84) closed out their final homestand of 2025 in style, taking four of six matchups from their Silver State rivals, the Las Vegas Aviators (31-38, 80-64), the Triple-A affiliate of the Athletics, this past week at Greater Nevada Field.

The series began with fireworks in Tuesday’s thrilling 10-6 comeback victory. Trailing 6-1 after three innings, the BLC-Nine stormed back with a seven-run sixth, powered by three home runs. Cristian Pache fueled the charge, blasting a two-run no-doubt shot to give Reno the lead—his second homer of the night after a solo shot in the third. Aramis Garcia ignited the rally with his 13th big fly of the year, a three-run blast, while Matt Mervis tied the game with a 420-foot bomb to left. Mervis wasn’t done, later adding two key insurance RBIs with a single in the seventh.

Two nights later, the Aces pulled off another comeback in walk-off fashion. Down 5-4 entering the ninth, Kristian Robinson played hero, ripping a bases-loaded line drive down the first-base line to bring home the winning runs. Pache again sparked the rally, tripling to right to put the tying run in scoring position.

The weekend sealed the series victory as Reno took the final two contests. Saturday’s 9-1 rout featured a strong outing from Yu-Min Lin, who limited the Aviators to one run across six innings while striking out three. The left-hander has found a groove in September, going 3-0 with a 1.69 ERA over his last three starts. Reno’s offense broke it open with a five-run fifth, highlighted by an RBI double from Jesus Valdez, a two-run single from Sergio Alcantara, and a Tristin English RBI double.

Sunday’s finale—and the Aces’ final home game of the season—was a perfect ending. Reno blanked Las Vegas, 8-0, behind a dominant team performance. Mervis opened the scoring in the first with an RBI double, followed by AJ Vukovich’s team-leading 21st homer, a two-run shot to left-center. Casey Kelly was sharp on the mound, tossing five scoreless frames with three strikeouts to earn his third win of the year. The veteran right-hander now holds a 5.94 ERA with 55 strikeouts across 109 innings.

The Aces’ offense was relentless all week, slashing .291/.380/.478 as a team while racking up 13 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, and 34 RBI. Kristian Robinson set the tone at the plate, going 7-for-23 (.304) with two extra-base hits and four RBI, while Cristian Pache and Matt Mervis delivered key power surges to fuel Reno’s victories.

With their final homestand complete, the Aces now turn their attention to the last leg of the 2025 season. Reno will close out the campaign on the road in Albuquerque, opening a six-game series against the Isotopes, the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, beginning Tuesday, September 16 at Isotopes Park.
