Reading Welcomes Somerset for Final Home Series of the 2025 Season

(Reading, PA) - The Reading Fightin Phils, Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, welcome the Somerset Patriots, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, for their final home series of the 2025 season. This is the third meeting between the two teams. They split their first series with Somerset before Somerset won both of the three-game series in July.

Tuesday is the 22nd Annual Morning Game featuring a matchup between the Reading Flapjacks and the Jersey Diners, with the first 2,000 adults receiving a Flapjacks hat thanks to Reading Hospital. On Wednesday, the first 1,000 fans will receive a Pride Night R-Phils Rainbow Cup thanks to Kutztown University and LGBTQ+ Resource Center at Kutztown University. Thursday is the final Unused Ticket Game where any unused R-Phils game ticket can be used as general admission courtesy of Baseballtown Charities. Fireworks conclude Friday night’s game thanks to Savage Auto Group. The fun continues on Saturday with Carpenter Mega Blast Fireworks, the largest show in stadium history, thanks to Penske. Wrapping up the final home game of the season on Sunday, the first 2,000 kids will receive an R-Phils Uncut Player Baseball Card Poster sponsored by Baseballtown Charities.

The Fightin Phils return to FirstEnergy Stadium after completing a six-game series in Hartford, Connecticut against the Hartford Yard Goats, Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. Reading split the series with the Yard Goats after sweeping the final three games. Bryson Ware went 4-for-4 in game four and Felix Reyes raised his league-leading batting average to .339. Griff McGarry had another strong outing after being named the organization’s Hitter of the Month.

The Somerset Patriots are coming off a six-game home series where they swept the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. Top prospect George Lombard Jr. hit .318 with four runs, four doubles, one home run and six RBI. RHP Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz struck out 16 batters with 11.0 scoreless innings over his two starts. Somerset had previously swept the Fightin Phils during their last visit in Reading before sweeping the full six-game series last week against the Fisher Cats.

Top 30 Yankees prospects include: infielder George Lombard Jr., RHP Carlos Lagrange, RHP Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz, RHP Ben Hess, RHP Chase Hampton, LHP Brock Selvidge, LHP Kyle Carr, infielder Dylan Jasso, outfielder Brendan Jones and outfielder Jace Avina.

RHP Estibenzon Jimenez is set to start off the series against LHP Kyle Carr on Tuesday. RHP Chuck King takes the mound for Reading on Wednesday going opposite RHP Ben Hess. Up next is RHP Jean Cabrera versus RHP Carlos Lagrange. Friday night looks to feature RHP Griff McGarry as he faces LHP Brock Selvidge. The matchups continue on Saturday with RHP Matt Manning going opposite RHP Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz. Closing out the series, RHP Braydon Tucker is set to face LHP Kyle Carr in Sunday’s finale.
