Johnathon Thomas then dropped down a perfect bunt single to bring Made home with the winning run.
Harrisburg’s bullpen was lights-out, combining for 8.1 shutout innings. Starter Josiah Gray and relievers Luke Young, Jake Bennett, Chance Huff, and winner Lucas Knowles (2-0) scattered five hits and struck out nine. Bennett retired all 15 batters he faced. The Senators faced the minimum number of Akron hitters beginning with the third inning.
Both teams had a runner thrown out at the plate. Akron’s was in the first inning and the Senators in the seventh inning.
The Senators managed just one hit before the 10th but made the last one count, sending the home crowd of 6,189 home happy.
