The Mets split the six-game series and sit three games behind the RailRiders for first place in the International League second half standings.

Syracuse (67-65, 36-21) opened up the scoring in the top of the third inning, starting with a leadoff double by Yonny Hernandez. Then, Ryan Clifford drew a walk, his first of three walks in the afternoon. With runners at first and second, Jared Young smashed a two-run double, putting the Mets in front, 2-0.

In the seventh, Syracuse tacked on an insurance run. To begin the frame, Hernandez and Clifford drew walks, and Francisco Alvarez hit an infield single. With the bases loaded, Young worked a walk, bringing home Hernandez and making it a 3-0 game.

On the mound, the bullpen shined. Jonathan Pintaro got the start, pitched two scoreless innings and struck out three batters. Following Pintaro, Justin Garza, Dom Hamel, and Austin Warren each tossed two shutout frames, combining for six strikeouts, zero walks, and just two hits. For the ninth, Carlos Guzman pitched a clean inning, striking out two, and earning his first-career Triple-A save.

Syracuse shut out Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday as well, and the Mets ended the series without allowing a run in 19 straight innings. This is the first time all season the RailRiders did not score in back-to-back games.

Syracuse starts a six-game series with the Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
