Star Wars Day With Character Appearances On 8/20

Costumed characters from the films will be in attendance courtesy of the 501st Northeast Remnant and the Saber Guild Corellia. Fans will be able to meet Star Wars fan costumers and take pictures with them on the main concourse throughout the game. Characters currently scheduled to appear include:

  • Darth Vader
  • Princess Leia
  • Boba Fett
  • R2D2
  • Ben Kenobi
  • Stormtrooper
  • Snowtrooper
  • X-Wing Pilot
  • TIE Pilot
  • Biker Scout

There will be a scripted Star Wars show beginning during pre-game and running throughout the game. Saber Guild is an international not-for-profit, Lucas Film-recognized Star Wars costuming group that specializes in choreographed lightsaber shows. Temples often perform at charity and community events, as well as comic book and sci-fi conventions, all to raise money for charity and share our love of Star Wars with fans around the world.

Saber Guild Corellia presents to you "Challenges of Hope". The dreaded Emperor has invaded Earth to add to his dominating Empire. Will the Jedi foil the Sith head to head at the Somerset Patriots Baseball game? Will the Sith control the planet and its people or will the Jedi find a peaceful way to end this conflict?

Patriots players and coaches will be wearing exclusive Star Wars themed jerseys featuring a space scene with the iconic ships of the franchise including the Millenium Falcon, X-Wing Fighters, TIE Fighters and the Death Star.

The game-worn jerseys will auctioned off online to benefit the Somerset Health Care Foundation and their work to help Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset enhance their facilities, technology and patient care to improve and save lives throughout the community. The auction will start Friday, August 15 at 10:00 am and end on Wednesday, August 20 at 10:00 pm.

Throughout the day, fans will be able to enjoy music and clips from the Star Wars films and more activities and entertainment to be announced throughout the planning of this year’s event.

Fans are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Star Wars characters for the game.
