The Flying Squirrels are saying “goodbye” to the home of baseball in Richmond for the last 40 years with a week-long celebration. Fans can enjoy three fireworks shows, including the largest in the history of The Diamond, giveaways every day and so much more.

The team will host the Hartford Yard Goats, Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, for six games from Tuesday, September 9 through Sunday, September 14.

Diamonds Aren’t Forever: The Farewell Series, presented by the Richmond Times-Dispatch, features back-to-back-to-back fireworks shows, a T-shirt giveaway, a commemorative program, and the sold-out final game at The Diamond.

Throughout the week fans can leave their mark on The Diamond by signing a dedicated wall space inside the stadium. The wall is located on the main concourse along the third base line near the Picnic Zone.

The final series at The Diamond has very limited tickets available. Fans can purchase tickets online here, by phone at 804-359-3866 or in person at the Flying Squirrels ticket office.

Tuesday, September 9 vs. Hartford Yard Goats: Time Capsule Tuesday with ‘Diamonds Aren’t Forever’ T-shirt Giveaway

Leave your mark on RVA and Flying Squirrels history on Time Capsule Tuesday

  • The first 1,500 fans ages 15 and older will go home with a commemorative ‘Diamonds Aren’t Forever’ T-shirt, sizes S-XXXL while supplies last. The T-shirt giveaway is presented by the Richmond Times-Dispatch and Reynolds Community College.

  • Hit prostate cancer out of the park with FREE screenings. The Flying Squirrels, Virginia Urology and NewsRadio WRVA have teamed up to bring prostate-specific antigen testing to The Diamond. Free PSA screenings will be available outside the main gate to The Diamond and include a simple blood draw. Learn more here.

  • Take a postgame stroll around the bases! Fans can head to the section 103/104 field gate following the game to take a walk around the bases, one last time!

  • Listen to pregame jams from the Flying Squirrels’ own Batter Up Brass Band on the main stage.

  • Time Capsule Tuesday is presented by Reynolds Community College

Wednesday, September 10 vs. Hartford Yard Goats: RVA Night with The Diamond: A Fond Farewell Program Giveaway

We love RVA! It’s time to celebrate the city that calls the Flying Squirrels their ‘home team’ and the people that make Richmond thrive.

  • The first 1,500 fans of all ages will go home with a copy of The Diamond: A Fond Farewell commemorative program, presented by the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

  • Groove with the Flying Squirrels’ own Batter Up Brass Band on the stage before the game.

  • It’s the final Wine & K-9s Wednesday! Bring your furry friend to say “goodbye” to The Diamond too. Dogs are admitted FREE in section 101-103, 201-203 and first base General Admission. Please request a dog-friendly section if accompanied by a pet.

  • Enjoy $7 glasses of wine and wine slushies from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Wine Cart located on the main concourse across from Gilbane Fan Services.

  • RVA Night is presented by Metro Elevator.

Thursday, September 11 vs. Hartford Yard Goats: First Responders Night with Collectors Lapel Pin Giveaway and In-Your-Face Fireworks

The Flying Squirrels are honoring the first responders who keep our city safe.

  • The first 2,000 fans of all ages will receive a Farewell Series collectors lapel pin.

  • First responders can present their ID for a FREE General Admission ticket, while supplies last.

  • We’re hosting Hot Dog Happy Hour with 2-for-1 hot dogs and beer specials from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Grab a tall boy of Bud Light, Bud Light Lime, Michelob Ultra and Kona for $10 and any flavor Surfside for $13.

  • Stick around after the game for In-Your-Face Fireworks, up close and inside the fences!

  • The Flying Squirrels will wear their patriotic red, white and blue jerseys one last time. Fans can bid on game-worn jerseys here with proceeds benefitting Valor RVA.

  • First Responders Night is presented by Patient First and Budweiser.

Friday, September 12 vs. Hartford Yard Goats: BIGGEST Fireworks Show with Ardillas Voladoras Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-Off!

We’re going out with a BANG! Enjoy the largest fireworks show in the history of The Diamond. Plus, happy hour, giveaways, and Hispanic Heritage Month kick off.

  • Stick around after the game for the largest fireworks show in the history of The Diamond! Yes, it’s going to be bigger than any Fourth of July show we’ve ever done.

  • Former Flying Squirrel and current coach in the San Francisco Giants organization Jabo Heyward will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and sign autographs on the stage for fans. Heyward played for the Flying Squirrels in 2019, 2021 and 2022, setting several franchise records in his career. He has spent the last three seasons managing the San Francisco Giants’ rookie affiliate and was recently named Arizona Complex League Manager of the Year.

  • Enjoy the best Happy Hour in RVA! Sip on $3 domestic drafts from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at all lower concession stands, upper concourse beer carts and the Budweiser Thirsty Acorn. $3 Pepsi fountain sodas are also available at the Papa Johns stand on the main concourse.

  • Listen to a mariachi band on the stage before the game.

  • The first 2,000 fans of all ages will receive an All-Diamond Team poster giveaway recognizing some of the biggest MLB stars who played at The Diamond over the last 40 years, presented by the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

  • Las Ardillas Voladoras Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-Off game is presented by Chick-fil-A.

Saturday, September 13 vs. Hartford Yard Goats: Childhood Cancer Awareness Night and Final Fireworks Show at The Diamond

Join the Flying Squirrels in saluting the Kourageous Kids at the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation. Plus, soak in the final fireworks show at The Diamond!

  • Stick around after the game for the final fireworks show at The Diamond!

  • The Flying Squirrels will wear custom jerseys designed by the kids at ASK on the field. Game-worn jerseys can be bid on here with proceeds benefiting the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation.

  • Listen to pregame jams from the Flying Squirrels’ own Batter Up Brass Band on the stage.

  • We’re moving out! Help us clean out The Diamond by grabbing old giveaways, posters, baseballs etc. On the stage after the 2nd inning.

Sunday, September 14 vs. Hartford Yard Goats: Goodbye Diamond Day with #1 Fan Bobblehead Giveaway and Postgame Photos on the Field

The Flying Squirrels take the field for one final game at The Diamond. Soak it all in and make memories that will last a lifetime at the home of baseball in Richmond for the last 40 years.

  • The first 2,000 fans of all ages will go home with a bobblehead of our #1 fan, Ray Edwards, presented by Pepsi.

  • Fans of all ages are invited to stick around following the game to take photos on the field and soak it all in. Access to the field will be available for one hour following the game.

  • Darryl Maday, former Flying Squirrel and San Francisco Giants relief pitcher, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game and sign autographs on the stage. Maday started the Flying Squirrels’ first game at The Diamond on April 15, 2010, in a combined shutout win, was a starter for a combined shutout in the franchise’s first playoff game on September 9, 2011, and recorded the final three outs in the team’s first no-hitter on April 5, 2013.

  • Party with DJ Ron on the stage before the game!

  • All fans in attendance will go home with a keepsake sample of dirt from The Diamond, presented by the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

  • Goodbye Diamond Day and the #1 Fan Bobblehead are presented by Pepsi.
