In the top of the first, Round Rock RF Dustin Harris got aboard with his fifth double of the year. Harris would move to third and later score on DH Billy McKinney’s single to give the E-Train a 1-0 lead.

Oklahoma City SS Alex Freeland answered in bottom of the inning with his ninth homer of the year, knotting it up at 1-1 after one.

The Comets loaded the bases in the second via two walks and a hit batsmen. Round Rock RHP Cory Abbott walked in the go-ahead run before surrendering a grand slam to 1B Ryan Ward that made it 6-1.

Round Rock got a run back in the top of the third on 1B Blaine Crim’s 14th double of the year. Crim traded places with Harris, who walked earlier, cutting the deficit to 6-2.

The E-Train posted four runs on four hits in the sixth inning. Round Rock put two on with a pair of singles from 2B Alex De Goti and McKinney. De Goti came around to score on a fielding error by 2B Austin Gauthier. A pitch later, CF Michael Helman poked a single into left allowing McKinney to score. LF Kellen Strahm capped off the inning with a two-run single that tied the game at six.

The Comets took another edge in the bottom of the inning via Gauthier’s third home run of the year for a 7-6 Oklahoma City advantage.

3B Cody Freeman delivered the equalizer in the top of the eighth with a solo home run to tie it up at 7-7.

Round Rock RHP Codi Heuer entered with an out in the bottom of the ninth and struck out two batters to send the game to extra innings.

3B Nick Senzel delivered the game winner for the Comets with a single on the first pitch in the bottom of the 10th. RF Esteury Ruiz came around to score as Oklahoma City took the series opener, 8-7.

E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:

PUT IT IN PLAY: The E-Train struck out just three times on Tuesday night, matching their season-low from April 6 against Toledo.

BILLY BATS: DH Billy McKinney went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run. McKinney has been on base in 14 of 15 games with the Express this year.

SWIPING: LF Kellen Strahm and RF Dustin Harris each stole a bag in the win. The E-Train rank second in the league with 92 stolen bases. Strahm has swiped 24 bags, trailing only Oklahoma City OF Esteury Ruiz, who has 33.

SITTING EM DOWN: The Round Rock pitching staff issued eight walks and struck out 14 batters in the series opener at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. It’s the E-Train’s seventh game this year with at least 14 strikeouts and third this month.
