HOW IT HAPPENED:

Round Rock took advantage of two first inning errors from Charlotte to plate three runs. After a one-out single for 1B Blaine Crim, DH Dustin Harris reached on a throwing error. 3B Cody Freeman walked before LF Kellen Strahm scored Crim on a sacrifice fly. After a walk for C Cooper Johnson, SS Michael Helman reached on a fielding error by 3B Tristan Gray and two more runs came home.

With the Express leading 3-0, C Korey Lee led off the bottom of the second with a 439-foot home run to cut the lead at 3-1. In the fourth inning, after a leadoff walk for DH Corey Julks, Gray singled. A one-out single for 2B Nick Maton scored one before the rehabbing LF Andrew Benintendi singled to score another run and tie the game at 3-3.

Julks led off the sixth with a double for the Knights. RHP Codi Heuer retired the next two but Maton hit a two-run homer to straightaway center field and Charlotte took a 5-3 lead. The Knights added two more in the eighth inning. After a leadoff walk for Julks, Gray smashed a two-run homer to extend the lead to 7-3 where the score stood final.

E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:

CRIM: Round Rock 1B Blaine Crim finished 3-for-4 with a run scored, a walk and a strikeout. He is 5-for-9 with a double, two RBI, a run scored and a walk in his first two games of the series. Wednesday was the 15th time this season he has reached base twice or more, the seventh time he has reached base three or more times and the fourth time he has reached base four times.

CURVELO COOKING: Express RHP Luis Curvelo threw a scoreless seventh inning with a walk and a strikeout. The right-hander has not allowed an earned run in his last 8.1 innings. His last earned run came on April 24 against Las Vegas. He has issued only two walks with 10 strikeouts during the scoreless streak.

SMITH IS SWINGING IT: RF Marcus Smith went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts. Of his 10 hits with the Express this year, six of them have been hit over 101.0 miles per hour and nine of the 10 have been struck at 95.0 miles per hour or harder.
