HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1:

Round Rock 1B Abimelec Ortiz continued his tear from Tuesday night by hitting a line-drive homer in the top of the second. Ortiz’s third home run in his second game gave the Express a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Isotopes put two on with a single from 2B Aaron Schunk and a double from CF Sam Hilliard. With 3B Kyle Karros at the plate, Round Rock LHP Michael Plassmeyer’s wild pitch got away from C Cooper Johnson and Hilliard came home to tie the game at one.

The Express responded with three runs in the top half of the fifth. 3B Alex De Goti hit a RBI double, CF Michael Helman tallied an RBI single and DH Jake Burger capped it off with a RBI double down the left field line. Round Rock led 4-1 after the fifth.

In the top of the seventh, Round Rock SS Richie Martin belted a 424-foot home run to dead center. Martin’s solo shot extended the E-Train lead to 5-1.

Albuquerque C Drew Romo hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the frame but the Express held on to win game one, 5-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2:

After trading two scoreless frames, the Express put up five runs on four hits in the bottom of the third. SS Richie Martin led off the inning with a single, C Elih Marrero drew a walk and RF Kellen Strahm got aboard with a bunt. CF Dustin Harris then grounded out and Martin scored to put the Express on the board. 3B Cody Freeman recorded a sacrifice fly and DH Michael Helman tallied a RBI double down the left field line. RBI singles from 2B Alan Trejo and 1B Abimelec Ortiz gave the E-Train a 5-0 lead after three frames.

The Isotopes followed with a four-run fourth inning. Albuquerque DH Michael Toglia drove a run in with a single to right and 3B Kyle Karros sent Toglia around with a double. LF Sterlin Thompson completed a nine-pitch at-bat with his 12th home run of the season. Thompson’s two-run homer brought the Isotopes within one.

Albuquerque PH Sean Bouchard’s double in the top of the ninth would be the only hit for the Isotopes in the final three frames as Round Rock took the second game of the doubleheader, 5-4.
