ROUND ROCK, Texas – Welcome to The Show, Luis! The Texas Rangers announced that the club recalled Round Rock Express RHP Luis Curvelo and added him to their 26-man roster on Wednesday. Curvelo made his Major League debut on Thursday night at T-Mobile Park against the Seattle Mariners and tossed 2.0 innings of scoreless baseball with one hit and three strikeouts.
Curvelo appeared in 34 games for the Express with a 3.26 ERA (14 ER/38.2 IP) out of the bullpen. He posted 18 walks and 40 strikeouts while collecting two saves. Opponents batted .211 against him this year. From April 26-June 4, the right-hander did not allow an earned run over 12 appearances and 12.2 innings.
The 24-year-old signed a Major League contract with the Rangers in November and added him to the 40-man roster. He began his career in the Seattle Mariners organization after signing a minor league contract with the Mariners in 2018. From 2018-2024, he went 21-8 with a 3.51 ERA (115 ER/294.2 IP) and 10 saves in 189 games/4 starts for five Mariners affiliates.
Round Rock and El Paso continue their series tonight from Dell Diamond at 7:15 p.m. CT. Express RHP Ryan Garcia will face Chihuahuas LHP Wes Benjamin (3-7, 6.75).
