ROUND ROCK, Texas - BOX SCORE
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Oklahoma City got on the board early when DH Eddie Rosario singled in SS Alex Freeland in the top of the first but a throwing error by CF Evan Carter on the play allowed the Dodgers to take a 1–0 lead. 2B Michael Chavis added to the advantage in the second, launching his fourth homer of the year to left-center to make it 2–0.
Round Rock responded in the fourth, taking advantage of a fielding error by Freeland that allowed Carter to score, cutting the lead in half. Freeland made up for the miscue in the bottom of the fifth, roping an RBI double to left to put the Comets up, 3–1.
Express C Chad Wallach belted a solo homer in the sixth and pulled the Express within one. The bats came alive in the sixth. Round Rock SS Cody Freeman tied the game with an RBI single. DH Tucker Barnhart gave Round Rock its first lead with another two-out base hit and 3B Alan Trejo added insurance with a sacrifice fly, putting the Express up 5–3.
The Dodgers chipped away in the seventh on a C Dalton Rushing RBI single, then struck decisively in the eighth. LF Esteury Ruiz delivered the game’s biggest blow—a three-run homer to left field—driving in PR Justin Dean and 2B Michael Chavis to give OKC a 7–5 lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
