Mariners Promote Top Prospect Colt Emerson to Tacoma

TACOMA, WA- The Tacoma Rainiers announced today that the Seattle Mariners No. 1 Prospect, Colt Emerson, has been promoted from Double-A Arkansas and will join the Rainiers for the final regular season series with the Oklahoma City Comets.
Emerson was originally drafted as the 1st round selection for the Seattle Mariners in the 2023 MLB First-Year Player Draft (22nd overall) out of John Glenn High School in Concord, Ohio. He began the season with High-A Everett, appearing in 90 games with the AquaSox where he notched a .281 average with 16 doubles, 5 triples, 11 home runs, with 51 RBI while also earning NWL Player of the Week Honors for the week of June 22nd. Emerson earned a promotion to Double-A Arkansas on August 4th where he hit .282 with 10 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, and 18 RBI across 34 games with the Travelers. At the time of his promotion, he ranked fourth in the Texas League in doubles (10), eighth in hits (40), and ninth in total bases (61).
In his first full professional season in 2024, was held to 70 games between the ACL Mariners, Single-A Modesto and High-A Everett due to injury. Across those levels, hit .263 with 56 runs, 17 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home runs, 37 RBI, and 15 stolen bases. He earned the Alvin Davis "Mr. Mariner" Award following his first full professional season.
Emerson is currently ranked as the No. 11 prospect overall by MLB Pipeline, the No. 7 shortstop prospect in baseball, and is ranked by Baseball America as being the best hitter for average in the Mariners system. He will become the seventh player to appear in a PCL game this year before turning 21 when he debuts with the Rainiers.
