Pelicans and Cubs fans, I’m Luke Moehle, your new broadcaster here in Myrtle Beach. I can’t imagine a better fit for me than here on the Grand Strand. There have been so many spectacular broadcasters and even better people who have sat in this booth before me, and I am excited to continue bringing great coverage of Pelicans baseball to the area.

I must express my gratitude to Chairman and Managing Partner Chuck Greenberg, President Ryan Moore, General Manager Kristin Call and the entirety of the Myrtle Beach front office for giving me the opportunity to blend the relationship of local media and the great people working behind the scenes to bring affordable family fun to Pelicans Ballpark. It is an honor to tell the stories of future Chicago Cubs to our amazing fans and I’m looking forward to seeing a full ballpark on April 8th for the home opener.

As a young baseball fan, my desire to broadcast the game after my playing career stemmed from late nights listening to some of the greatest wordsmiths navigate through a 9-inning game. They connected themselves and the players with the audience. Now, I want to help the next generation of baseball fans feel connected to the game and their favorite players.

I got my start in the broadcast industry as a high school sophomore, by accident. Following one of my junior varsity basketball games, I approached a broadcaster before the varsity game tipped off and asked about his broadcast. He said he would love to have me join, but what I did not realize was how quickly he meant. He told me to hit the showers and come throw on the headset, and that is where my passion for telling the stories behind athletes began.

I played baseball from tee ball all the way to college at the University of Missouri where I was with the program for two seasons before hanging up my cleats to focus on broadcasting. Being from Kansas City, I actually played summer ball at the same organization as two former Myrtle Beach Pelicans in Cubs Top-30 prospect, Christian Franklin and Ivan Brethowr.

The Chicago Cubs are the third organization I have been affiliated with. I spent 2023 with the Kansas City Royals in the media relations department and last season with the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers.

In my free time, you can find me on the golf course, watching any sporting event that one could think of and enjoying time with my wife, Mati, and our Golden Retriever, Chesney.

I’m super excited to meet all our fans here at the ballpark this season. We are in for a ton of fun and great baseball so make sure to snag your tickets and come visit us at Pelicans Ballpark.
