ROUND ROCK, Texas – Round Rock Express LHP Michael Plassmeyer was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for August 25-31, as announced by Minor League Baseball on Monday afternoon. Plassmeyer is the fourth member of the E-Train to earn a league honor this season and the third in the month of August.

The 28-year-old collected a victory after tossing 6.0 innings of scoreless baseball in his start on August 30 against the Salt Lake Bees. He allowed two hits without issuing a walk while striking out seven. He needed only 78 pitches and did not allow any Bees to reach third base.

Plassmeyer leads the club in wins (7), innings (96.2) and strikeouts (96). The southpaw is one of just six pitchers in the PCL this year with seven or more wins in 90.0 innings or more on the mound.

In August, he finished 2-1 in five starts with a 3.46 ERA (10 ER/26.0 IP) with only three walks and 23 strikeouts. Among the 28 pitchers with at least 20.0 innings in August, the left-hander finished fourth in ERA and second in WHIP (1.00). Express RHP Trey Supak finished first in WHIP (0.99) in August.

Round Rock starting pitchers finished August second in the PCL in ERA (4.01), innings (134.2 IP) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.40). They also allowed the fewest number of home runs (10) while they were tied for the lowest WHIP (1.35) in the league.

The St. Louis, Missouri native signed a minor league contract with Texas on December 10, 2024. Plassmeyer was a fourth-round selection by the Seattle Mariners in the 2018 MLB Draft out of the University of Missouri. He pitched in the big leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies for two relief appearances in 2022 and one start in 2023.

The Express hit the road as they open a six-game series tonight against the Albuquerque Isotopes (Colorado Rockies affiliate) at Isotopes Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. CT. Round Rock is 5.0 games back of first place with 20 games remaining. For more information on the Express, visit RRExpress.com or call (512) 255-2255.
