ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Texas Rangers announced their minor league award winners for the month of June on Tuesday morning. Round Rock Express INF Cody Freeman was named the organization’s Player of the Month while RHP Codi Heuer was listed as the Reliever of the Month.

Freeman slashed .347 (34-98) /.413/.582/.995 with five doubles, six homers, 19 RBI, 24 runs scored and more walks (10) than strikeouts (9) in 23 games for the Express last month. Among Pacific Coast League hitters, he was among the best in runs scored (T-3rd), hits (4th), batting average (6th) and total bases (T-6th, 57). Since May 23, Freeman is second in the PCL in hits (54).

Freeman hit safely in 21 of his 23 games in June, including in 10 straight from June 19-29 to conclude the month. From May 27-June 13, Freeman hit safely in all 14 of his games which is the longest streak by an Express player in 2025. In 75 Triple-A contests this season, Freeman is hitting .316/.369/.505/.874 (94-297) with 12 home runs, 20 doubles, and 54 RBI to rank among the PCL in batting average (4th), hits (5th), and runs (T-6th, 59).

The 24-year-old is in his sixth professional season in the Rangers organization after he was selected by Texas in the 4th round of the 2019 MLB Draft from Etiwanda H.S. in Pomona, California.

Heuer posted a 1.80 ERA (2 ER/10.0 IP) with a 14.40 strikeouts-per-nine IP ratio and a 0.80 WHIP in eight relief outings for Round Rock during June after being optioned by Texas on June 4. He recorded two or more strikeouts in seven of his eight outings and logged 1.1-or-more innings in four of eight appearances. Among PCL relievers with at least 10.0 innings pitched in June, Heuer’s 8.00 strikeouts-per-walk figure (16 SO/2 BB) was second-best in the league while also ranking in WHIP (3rd), opponent OPS (4th, .523), and ERA (6th) under the same parameters.

The right-hander was originally a sixth-round selection by the Chicago White Sox in 2018 and owns a 3-2 record with a 2.91 ERA (11 ER/34.0 IP) and two saves in 29 games for the Express this year. He appeared back in the Major Leagues for the first time since 2021 on June 3. In his one outing with Texas this year, he went 1.1 innings while allowing one hit and one earned run with one strikeout against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Round Rock and the Albuquerque Isotopes (Colorado Rockies affiliate) will get ready for their six-game series at Dell Diamond on Tuesday, July 8 with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 p.m. CT. Express RHP Cory Abbott (1-2, 8.60) will take the mound against Albuquerque RHP Anthony Molina (2-5, 7.79).
