RENO, Nev. – Following a series victory over Las Vegas in their final homestand of 2025, the Reno Aces (23-46, 60-84) now turn their attention to the last series of the campaign — a six-game road trip against the Albuquerque Isotopes (28-41, 59-84), the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, at RGCU Field at Isotopes Park. First pitch for the opener is scheduled for Tuesday, September 16, at 5:35 p.m. PST.

Albuquerque enters the matchup fresh off a series loss to the El Paso Chihuahuas, dropping four of six. The Isotopes have struggled in the second half, going 28-41 and sitting ninth in the standings, but they still hold a five-game edge over Reno. If the Aces can keep up their recent strong play, they’ll have a chance to overtake Albuquerque to finish the season.

The BLC-Nine has fared well against the Isotopes this year, winning nine of 15 contests. The clubs last met in a three-game set in Albuquerque immediately following the All-Star break, with Reno taking two of three. Spencer Giesting shined in that series, holding the Isotopes to one run across six innings with seven strikeouts in a dominant 15-1 victory.

Offensively, Reno has hit Albuquerque pitching hard in 2025, slashing .275/.366/.453 with 54 extra-base hits and 94 RBI. AJ Vukovich has been the standout bat, going 15-for-47 (.319) with seven extra-base hits — including four home runs — and 14 RBI in 12 games against the Isotopes.

Albuquerque’s lineup features a pair of dangerous hitters in OF Sterlin Thompson and INF/DH Keston Hiura. Thompson, ranked the Rockies’ No. 16 prospect by MLB Pipeline, has been a problem for Reno all season, hitting .304 (14-for-46) with two doubles, two triples, three homers, and 12 RBI in 12 games. He continued his tear last week against El Paso, belting two homers and driving in seven over five games. Thompson has also crushed pitching at home in 2025, slashing .308/.416/.528 with 24 extra-base hits, including eight homers, in 55 contests.

Hiura has also swung the bat well against Reno, hitting .295 (13-for-44) with three homers, seven extra-base hits, and eight RBI in 10 games. The 29-year-old has been locked in this month, going 14-for-41 (.341) with five doubles, three homers, and seven RBI in nine September games. He’s been equally effective at home, posting a .303/.394/.541 slash with 22 extra-base hits and 41 RBI in 49 contests. Containing both Hiura and Thompson will be key for Reno.

For the Aces, Kristian Robinson has been red-hot, going 7-for-23 (.304) with two extra-base hits and four RBI in last week’s series win over Las Vegas. He’s carried the momentum into September, hitting .341 (14-for-41) with four doubles, three home runs, and six RBI in 10 games. The 24-year-old outfielder will look to continue his surge at the plate in Reno’s final road trip of the season.

The Aces close out the 2025 campaign this week in Albuquerque, with the six-game set beginning Tuesday night at RGCU Field at Isotopes Park.
