RENO, NV – The Reno Aces (26-49, 63-87) closed out the 2025 campaign with a series split against the Albuquerque Isotopes (31-44, 62-87), the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, this past week at RGCU Field at Isotopes Park.

Reno opened the set with an 8-7 win on Tuesday, fueled by a six-run first inning capped by Sergio Alcantara’s bases-clearing triple. Albuquerque clawed back to within one heading into the ninth, but Phillip Abner shut the door with a scoreless frame and two strikeouts to earn his first save of the season. The left-hander has been dominant since joining Reno on August 30, tossing 8 1/3 scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts and three walks. Tommy Troy sparked the first-inning rally with an RBI single, the first of his three hits in the win.

On Thursday, the Aces rode a dominant start from Roman Angelo to victory. The right-hander turned in one of Reno’s best outings of the season, holding the Isotopes to one run across 7 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts and just one walk to notch his first Triple-A win. His only blemish came in the fourth, when Adael Amador lined a ball into left-center that skipped past Kristian Robinson for an inside-the-park home run. Angelo finished the year with a 6.19 ERA and 13 strikeouts across four outings, showing signs of settling in late. Alcantara kept swinging a hot bat with an RBI double in the second, while Aramis Garcia added insurance with his 14th home run — a two-run shot in the ninth.

Reno secured the split in Sunday’s season finale, edging Albuquerque 3-2 in 10 innings. The Aces carried a shutout into the ninth before the Isotopes rallied for two runs to force extras. In the 10th, Kristian Robinson delivered the game-winner with an RBI single to center, plating Alcantara. Trevor Richards slammed the door in the bottom half, striking out the side to lock up the win. Casey Kelly shined in his final outing of 2025, tossing six scoreless innings with two hits, one walk, and six punchouts. The veteran wrapped up the season 3-7 with a 5.63 ERA, 61 strikeouts, and 48 walks across 115.0 innings. Ivan Melendez also made his mark, crushing a solo homer to left-center — his third of the season.

Offensively, Alcantara led the charge in the series, going 6-for-18 (.333) with two doubles, two triples, and eight RBI. Since joining the Aces in mid-July, the switch-hitting infielder has been a difference-maker, slashing .315/.435/.470 with 16 extra-base hits, 23 RBI, and 32 walks in 45 games.

The Aces wrap up 2025 with a 63-87 record, finishing ninth in the Pacific Coast League. Reno will return to action in 2026.
