The Baltimore Orioles on Monday announced that 2009-13 Bulls catcher and 2017 third base coach Craig Albernaz has been named the organization's manager for the 2026 season. His addition means there are now four former Bulls players managing in the Major Leagues, joining Tampa Bay's Kevin Cash (2005-06), Kansas City's Matt Quatraro (2002), and Cleveland's Stephen Vogt (2011-12), for whom Albernaz served as bench coach for the past two campaigns.

A fan-favorite during his time in the Bull City, Albernaz combined for a .191 average (60-314) with 30 runs, 14 doubles, two triples, one homer and 25 RBI in 123 contests from 2009-13. His lone longball with Durham was a grand slam off the Hit Bull Hit Steak sign on August 6, 2013, his final season with the Bulls. In 35 contests that year he batted .225 (23-102) with 11 runs, five doubles, one homer and 11 RBI.

Undrafted out of Eckerd College in Tampa, the Tampa Bay Rays signed Albernaz as a free agent in 2006. He would go on to play in the Rays organization through the 2013 campaign before spending one more year in the Detroit Tigers organization. He would begin his coaching career the very next season, beginning with the Princeton Rays before moving on to Low-A Hudson Valley the next season. He joined the Bulls as third base coach and catching coach in 2017, and was a member of the organization's second Triple-A National Championship-winning club. In 2018, he managed High-A Bowling Green, earning Midwest League Manager of the Year honors before serving as a minor league field coordinator the next year.

Prior to the 2020 season, Albernaz would become a Big League coach for the first time, joining the San Francisco Giants as their bullpen and catching coach. He would join the Guardians for the 2024 season to join fellow former Bulls catcher Stephen Vogt's staff as bench coach for two seasons before being hired by the Orioles.
