Peters pulls back a homer (36 percent of the vote)
Tristan Peters has a history of ridiculous catches. But this home run robbery for Triple-A Durham may just be his finest work. The 25-year-old ranged toward the wall and made the backhand catch while his glove was on the other side of the fence. Left fielder Tanner Murray's reaction says it all. This was an incredible catch.
'Air Johnny!' (22 percent)
Usually, a hard liner to third is a "blink and you'll miss it" situation. But on this play, Double-A Pensacola third baseman Johnny Olmstead seemed to float in the air for a brief moment, getting as much hangtime as lateral movement. The wild leap and diving snag earned him a new nickname from Blue Wahoos broadcaster Carter Bainbridge.
Jones family business (18 percent)
Druw Jones' father, Andruw Jones, won 10 Gold Gloves in 17 big league seasons. The D-backs No. 14 prospect and 2025 Defensive Player of the Year is building an outfield highlight reel reminiscent of his father's defensive exploits. This leaping catch at the center field wall for High-A Hillsboro counts among his best.
Peete's no-no saver (8 percent)
Oftentimes, a no-hitter has that incredible catch that signals something truly special is happening. Tai Peete made that catch for High-A Everett in the AquaSox no-hitter on June 6. Ryan Hawks, Charlie Beilenson and Stefan Raeth completed the milestone, but it would have been just another day at the park without Peete's diving grab in the seventh.
Humphreys' no-hitter saver (6 percent)
Just like the catch by Peete, Nathan Humphreys made this big play in the Aug. 15 no-hitter by Single-A Clearwater pitchers Angel Liranzo, A.J. Wilson and Erik Ritchie. Humphreys' special moment, where he made a full-extension diving grab in the gap in right to preserve the milestone, came in just his ninth professional game.
Morabito saves the season (6 percent)
An historic season neared a untimely end as the Rumble Ponies faced elimination in the ninth inning of Game 2 of the league Finals. Max Clark hit what seemed to be a game-tying homer for the SeaWolves. But a leaping robbery by Nick Morabito preserved the lead, and Double-A Binghamton went on to win the league title.
Nice catch, new guy (4 percent)
Leo De Vries was the biggest prospect name traded at this year's deadline, and the No. 3 overall prospect had quite the first week with High-A Lansing. Not only did he drive in six runs during his first series as a member of the A's organization, he also made this over-the-shoulder sliding catch in his Lugnuts debut.
Baker's fearless catch - Week 1
Luis Guillorme has to be wondering what he did to Dru Baker. The Triple-A Durham right fielder showed no fear on this incredible grab, crashing into the fence after running a long way to track the fly ball. Guillorme, a brilliant defender in his own right, was robbed again by Baker two nights later on a diving catch in left.
The Great Wall of Eli - Week 2
With two incredible catches in a three-day span, Eli Serrano III became well acquainted with the left field wall at High-A Brooklyn's Maimonides Park. First was this leaping grab that sent the Mets No. 23 prospect crashing hard into the padding. Just two games later, he took away extra bases again in nearly the same spot.
Franklin defies gravity - Week 3
Blink and you might not have seen this catch by Christian Franklin. The Triple-A Iowa left fielder flashed toward the line and had the ball in his glove so quick, you might have missed the part where the No. 25 Cubs prospect was in a full-extension dive, a couple feet off the ground in order to haul in the liner.
Stovall's tough diving play - Week 4
Hunter Stovall has made a lot of nice plays throughout his seven professional seasons, mostly as a second or third baseman. This diving stop at short for Double-A Montgomery counts among his best. Stovall stifled the grounder in the hole with a dive and made an on-target throw from his knees across the diamond for the brilliant out.
Jones family business - Week 5
Major League bloodlines abound! Druw Jones' father, Andruw Jones, won 10 Gold Gloves in 17 big league seasons. And the D-backs No. 7 prospect is building an outfield highlight reel reminiscent of his father's defensive exploits. This leaping catch at the center field wall for High-A Hillsboro will certainly count among his best.
Peters does it again - Week 6
The boys from Triple-A Durham played some impressive defense this week. Just two weeks removed from a ridiculous home run robbery, Tristan Peters made another incredible catch. This time, he tracked a fly ball to the gap in right and went into a full extension dive to make the play just before the ball landed on the warning track.
Matthews floats into an out - Week 7
New Zealand native Jason Matthews is one stop away from being the first Maori Major Leaguer, and plays like this might just continue to propel him to the next level. Playing second base for Triple-A Charlotte, Matthews tracks a blooper into short center field and seems to levitate during a full-extension dive to complete the play.
Nin's over-the-shoulder grab - Week 8
Single-A Visalia second baseman Yerald Nin was just three years old when the club was last known as the Oaks. But while wearing green Oaks throwbacks, the 19-year-old made a catch for the ages. Nin ranged back on a blooper and made an over-the-shoulder, sliding grab in short center field, then got up and fired to first for a double play.
Vaquero to the rescue - Week 9
Cristhian Vaquero has earned a reputation as an excellent center fielder. The Nats' No. 24 prospect made this difficult grab for Single-A Fredericksburg with a full extension dive toward the gap. Defensive excellence had become expected from Vaquero. Just four days prior, he hosed a runner at the plate for the game's final out.
Peete's no-no saver - Week 10
Oftentimes, a no-hitter has that incredible catch that signals something truly special is happening. Tai Peete made that catch for High-A Everett in the AquaSox no-hitter on June 6. Ryan Hawks, Charlie Beilenson and Stefan Raeth completed the milestone, but it would have been just another day at the park without Peete's diving grab in the seventh.
Lumpuy lays out for grab - Week 11
Alexey Lumpuy made his stateside debut this season after two years in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League. The Cuban native has split time between right field and center so far for Single-A Myrtle Beach. On this play, Lumpuy tracked the fly ball to the gap and left his feet with a full-extension dive to get the out.
Kuroda-Grauer's wild diving play - Week 12
In a particularly good week for Scarlet Knights alumni, Joshua Kuroda-Grauer, who was drafted out of Rutgers last year, found a way to stand out with this incredible play for High-A Lansing. The ball was already past the A's No. 9 prospect when it hit the ground, but he was able to dive, snag it on the short hop and fire to first for the out.
Malgeri flips out of play - Week 13
Ben Malgeri helped Double-A Erie force extra innings with this wild catch in the ninth inning of a tie game. The 25-year-old tracked a fly ball to the right field corner and made the catch before flipping into the bullpen and knocking into a camera in the process.
Frias' Akron swan song - Week 14
Double-A Akron third baseman Dayan Frias was shaded toward shortstop against the lefty, giving him a long way to go to track this weak popup toward the third base dugout. But he got under it in time to make the sliding grab. Frias was promoted to Triple-A Columbus after this game and debuted with the Clippers two days later.
Ellis tracks it down - Week 15
Duke Ellis' prolific base-stealing ability has given him a shot in the upper levels and in the Majors. That elite speed also makes for exciting catches, like this one for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Ellis went a long way into the gap to track this ball down and made a leaping catch at the wall, taking away a potential homer.
Catch of the day! - Week 16
Of all the nets in all the lakes in Minnesota, none probably had as big a catch as the netting down the first base stands at CHS Field. Triple-A St. Paul first baseman Aaron Sabato, who is listed at 230 pounds, made the out after a leaping grab over the short wall. But second baseman Luke Keaschall wound up in the netting with him.
Caissie's diving grab - Week 17
Owen Caissie was a coveted prospect at the Trade Deadline, who has mostly earned his No. 36 overall ranking on the strength of his bat. As he shows on this catch for Triple-A Iowa, the 23-year-old is also a strong defender in right field. The 6-foot-3 Caissie charged a sinking liner to make the full-extension diving catch.
Lee's walk-off winner - Week 18
Staked to a one-run lead in the final inning, High-A West Michigan was in a precarious position as this Jaime Ferrer liner descended toward the gap in right. But Whitecaps right fielder Patrick Lee saved the day with this full-extension diving catch and strong throw to first to double off the runner for the game's final out.
Humphreys' no-hitter saver - Week 19
Every no-hitter seems to have that one catch that signals something special is happening. Nathan Humphreys' special moment came in just his ninth professional game, where he made a full-extension diving grab in the gap in right to preserve the milestone for Single-A Clearwater pitchers Angel Liranzo, A.J. Wilson and Erik Ritchie.
Hoffman goes airborne - Week 20
Wyatt Hoffman is a natural shortstop but already he's made two incredible catches as a left fielder. Last year, he flipped into his father, Trevor Hoffman's, old office on a play for Lake Elsinore. And now he's showing off his athleticism on a full-extension diving catch toward the line for Double-A San Antonio.
Amarillo turns three - Week 21
This triple play started by Double-A Amarillo third baseman LuJames Groover was particularly difficult. Groover fielded a grounder on his backhand and crossed into foul territory as he stepped on the third base bag and wheeled to second baseman Jean Walters, who was upended by the runner while delivering a strike to first for the final out.
